Moment of Peace

20 × 16 inches . . . . . acrylic on canvas, 2026

A day at the Oregon Coast is always spectacular, but this quiet scene appealed to my eyes. Often the Coast means haze and sunshine simultaneously, and while the person here is in sunlight, the foggy marine layer is rolling in. The person had been throwing a ball for her dog to fetch, but after a while, she stopped and just looked out to sea. Her dog seemed to be patiently waiting for whatever her next move would be.

The colors of the water and the soaked sand, and the shadows of the person and her dog were all changing with the movement of the haze and the sunlight coming through.
